“With LUPE, Colonia La Piñata Taking Steps Toward a Better Quality of Life”

LUPE assisted colonia residents in bringing Precinct 1 Commissioner Joel Quintanilla to the La Piñata neighborhood, to promote awareness of their living situations. The commissioner stated that there were not enough funds and that it would take $120 million to aid all 400 colonias in his precinct. Also, because the colonia has a private owner, the commissioner mentioned that he did not have the authority to fund better streets and lights.
