Food in Schools: LA Unified School District Landmark Nutrition Policy

On Tuesday, December 11, 2012, the Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD) Board of Education adopted the Improving Food and Nutrition Policy. The policy strengthens nutrition education in the classroom and ensures that the last student in the lunch line has at least 20 minutes to eat. The policy also includes provisions that address the appeal and nutritional value of school meals as well as local food procurement.
