Healthy Communities Action Teams (HCATs)

In 2009, the Virginia General Assembly voted to give The Virginia Foundation for Healthy Youth (VFHY) the duty of preventing and reducing childhood obesity in the state. VFHY created Healthy Communities Action Teams (HCAT), which are groups of at least five members who advocate for healthier lifestyles–all with the ultimate goal of reducing and preventing childhood obesity.
