San Antonio Mayor Julián Castro appointed the Mayor’s Fitness Council (MFC) in May 2010. The mission of the Mayor’s Fitness Council is to transform San Antonio into a healthier and more active community in which citizens, groups, and organizations achieve targeted health and fitness goals through initiatives in the following areas:

  1. media and promotions;
  2. fitness;
  3. nutrition;
  4. healthy schools;
  5. work-site wellness; and
  6. policy.

The MFC is also encouraging youth to be health ambassadors through the Mayor’s Fitness Council Student Ambassador program. These outstanding kids are committed to bringing healthier lifestyles into their schools and communities. Watch the video to learn more about the Student Ambassador Program.
