The mayor of San Antonio, Texas, Ivy Taylor, will be joining walking groups throughout San Antonio (63.2% Latino) to encourage walking and to help get San Antonio fit.

It is important for local leaders to promote walking and physical activity to create a culture of health.  It is also important for local leaders to understand the walkability or lack of walkability that local residents face on a daily basis.

Join Ivy Taylor and the Mayor’s Fitness Council in their “Walk with the Mayor” walk on Saturday, January 16 at 8am at Roosevelt Park, 330 Roosevelt, meeting at the adjacent Greenway trail and walking along Mission Reach to Concepcion Park and back. This recreational walk will be with walking groups from City Council Districts 3 and 5.

Mayor Taylor hosted a walk in October 2015, which was a huge success. She hopes that walking groups, families and organizations will be there on January 16 to support walking and to get San Antonio active and healthy!
