A Look at Safe Routes to School Acheivements (2012)

According to the National Center for Safe Routes to School, 2012 marked record levels of participation in walk to school programs.

Some of the key contributing factors which made Safe Routes to School (SRTS) programs a success in 2012 were:

• The establishment of Bike to School day in May 2012;
• Support from groups like the Safe Routes National Partnership, the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and Safe Kids USA, and
• Easier access to SRTS resources through the walkbiketoschool.org website.
