In this article Texas state Rep. Lyle Larson talks about the need to preserve the Texas park system. He also discusses the need to restore integrity to the the Texas budgeting system, which has created gaps for park funding. Rep. Larson refers to HB 105, HB 162, HJR 40 which were filed to ensure that 94% of the proceeds from the sporting goods tax go to park funds. The Senate version of these bills are SB 175 and SJR 17, and were filed by Sen. Craig Estes.
