Regular physical activity is a vital component of every child’s life, yet Latino children in underserved communities oftenTweetchat 07-28 lack access to safe spaces to be physically active.  Research shows that Latino kids are more likely to engage in sedentary behaviors such as watching TV or playing video games.

While many Latinos have become aware of the risks associated with obesity and physical inactivity, several barriers to physical activity still exist within Latino communities.  Opening existing school facilities will reduce many of these social, structural and environmental barriers and support a growing culture of physical activity.
