Amelie G. Ramirez, DrPH, an internationally recognized researcher in Latino health promotion and behavioral change, is director of Salud America! and its home base, the Institute for Health Promotion Research at UT Health San Antonio. Amelie has spent 30 years directing research on human and organizational communication to reduce chronic disease and cancer health disparities affecting Latinos, including cancer risk factors, clinical trial recruitment, tobacco prevention, obesity prevention, healthy lifestyles promotion, and more.

Communications Manager, Salud America!
Despres coordinates multimedia communications for Salud America! and its home base, the Institute for Health Promotion Research at UT Health San Antonio. This includes: managing, planning and organizing publications and interaction among an internal communication team, researchers, mass media, and the public; and writing and editing newsletters, grants, manuscripts, websites and blogs.

Amanda Merck has served since 2015 as a digital content curator for Salud America! and its home base, the Institute for Health Promotion Research at UT Health San Antonio. She is a UTHealth School of Public Health grad who is passionate about physical activity and health equity for children in and after school. She enjoys watching The Office and Parks & Rec. Digital Content Curator & Communication Specialist, Salud America!
Callie Rainosek is a digital content curator at Salud America! and its home base, the Institute for Health Promotion Research at UT Health San Antonio. Callie’s passion is spreading awareness of public health issues through various communication channels. Her work helps mitigate health disparities while promoting positive, healthy changes in communities. She earned her Master of Science degree in Science & Technology Journalism in 2019 from Texas A&M University and has been involved in public health communication ever since.
