Amelie G. Ramirez, DrPH
Director, Salud America!

Amelie G. Ramirez, DrPH, an internationally recognized researcher in Latino health promotion and behavioral change, is director of Salud America! and its home base, the Institute for Health Promotion Research at UT Health San Antonio. Amelie has spent 30 years directing research on human and organizational communication to reduce chronic disease and cancer health disparities affecting Latinos, including cancer risk factors, clinical trial recruitment, tobacco prevention, obesity prevention, healthy lifestyles promotion, and more.

Kipling J. Gallion, MA
Deputy Director, Salud America!

Kip Gallion, an accomplished health communications producer and researcher with vast experience in program development and analysis, is deputy director of Salud America! and its home base, the Institute for Health Promotion Research at UT Health San Antonio. Over the years, he’s performed media production and coordination for many health groups and research teams in Houston and San Antonio. His work to promote cancer control, diabetes risk and tobacco cessation has been recognized in scientific literature and lauded with media industry awards.

Rosalie Aguilar, MS
Project Coordinator, Salud America!

Rosalie Aguilar is project coordinator for Salud America! and its home base, the Institute for Health Promotion Research at UT Health San Antonio. Prior to serving as project coordinator, she was a digital content curator for the program. She is a native of South Texas and enjoys living a healthy lifestyle and helping others do the same. The recent newlywed and homeowner also is working on her PhD in translational science.

Communications Manager, Salud America!

Despres coordinates multimedia communications for Salud America! and its home base, the Institute for Health Promotion Research at UT Health San Antonio. This includes: managing, planning and organizing publications and interaction among an internal communication team, researchers, mass media, and the public; and writing and editing newsletters, grants, manuscripts, websites and blogs.

Yadira “Yadie” Gonzales, MS
Marketing Specialist, Salud America!

Yadie Gonzales started serving in 2017 as a marketing specialist for Salud America! and its home base, the Institute for Health Promotion Research at UT Health San Antonio. She coordinates the program’s marketing and outreach efforts, including social media and communication analytics. She received her master’s degree from Our Lady of the Lake University and is passionate about connecting people to action, marketing communications, and social justice. In her spare time she can be found traveling with her family and giving of her time and talents to the community.

TV Producer/Director, Salud America!

Carrillo produces and directs video content for Salud America! and its home base, the Institute for Health Promotion Research at UT Health San Antonio. He uses his health education background and his vast film acting, directing, and producing experience to create video and other multimedia content that effectively promote health and wellness to Latino communities.

She is a UTHealth School of Public Health grad who is passionate about physical activity and health equity for children in and after school. She enjoys watching The Office and Parks & Rec.
